OTHERLANDS

Otherlands is an audiovisual work exploring, in an abstract film, climate change, landscape and the human planetary impact of the Anthropocene from a post-human artificial intelligence viewpoint. The music and sound design was created using sonification techniques by which the data from climate change: Annual temperature rise, CO2 increase, increased land ice melting and sea rising data are being used as the notes on a scales and sources of sound design. Visual material includes particle animation, montage and Nasa footage. First performed and installed at The 360 gallery in Krakow at Patchlab 2019 for a residency. 10 projectors, 16K pixels width. It is an "expanded cinema" project and will be developed further to work in other locations. Please get in touch for enquiries about hosting an updated version of the live project. More images from the project below. Photos taken of Nicholas at Patchlab by M. Ramus. There is a Bandcamp release below and also a shorter (7 min) edit of the performance on this Soundcloud stream. When streaming these tracks from the web the sound does suffer from some data compression.
